Seven sets
What the random question generator asks

A question found in 2 banks counts once, under its first set. Icebreakers come from the icebreaker question bank, and Would you rather uses the either-or questions with a vote. Truth questions are the truths from the truth or dare bank minus the couples prompts. Have you ever rewrites the never have I ever statements as questions, leaving out the grown-ups' party set.
Quick start
How to use the random question generator
All 7 sets in the random question generator start checked, and the number beside each one is its question count.
Check your sets
Untick the ones that don’t fit, such as Truth at work. Fill the wheel then gives each checked set its own slice.
Spin for a set
Spin by button, tap or Space. The popup names the set the wheel landed on and shows a question from it.
Or skip the wheel
Random question draws from every checked set at once. Another from this set stays with the current one.
Keep or copy it
The card next to the wheel holds the question with a Copy button, ready for a chat or a slide.
A counter shows how many questions in the checked sets are left, and Reset puts them all back. To deal questions to people, type their names on the wheel instead: each spin picks a person and gives them a question from the checked sets. An entry that ends with a question mark is shown exactly as written.
Spin or button
Two kinds of random
Spinning gives every set the same chance, while Random question gives every question the same chance. That one difference changes what comes up.
The random question generator's wheel has one slice per set, so each of the 7 sets lands 14.3% of the time, small or large. Kids questions come up as often as would you rather, even though the kids set is much smaller.
Random question skips the wheel and picks among all the checked questions. A set with 335 questions then comes up far more often than one with 50. Spin when you want variety between sets, and press the button when you want the whole bank evenly.
Either way, the pick comes from your browser's secure random generator, and no question repeats until its set runs out. The page on how fair the picks are lets you test it on your own list.

Class discussion
Check Kids or Fun for a warm-up, and Deep for older students’ writing prompts.
Team meetings
Check Icebreakers and Fun, and leave Truth unchecked. Ask one question and let each person answer in a sentence.
Family dinner
Check Kids, Fun and Would you rather. Let a child press the button and read the question out loud.
Road trips
The passenger reads for the driver. Would you rather and Have you ever take seconds to answer.
Dates
Check Deep and Fun, and take turns answering the same question before drawing the next.
Journaling
Check only Deep, press Random question once a day and write your answer.
Calling on people
In a classroom, the random name picker calls on students with no repeats, and the random question generator supplies what to ask them. For timed answers in a meeting, the icebreaker wheel adds a speaking clock.
FAQ
Random question generator FAQ
How many questions does the random question generator have?
1,187. They are split across 7 sets, with 50 to 335 questions in each.
What are good random questions to ask?
Open questions anyone can answer in a sentence or two. “What does a good life look like to you?” and “If animals could talk, which one would be the rudest?” both come from the generator.
Will the same question come up twice?
Not until every question in its set has come up once. Then that set goes back in the deck, and the last question is never dealt straight away again.
Are the questions safe for work and school?
Yes, with the right sets. No question is sexual or mentions alcohol or drugs. Truth questions include crushes for teens and friends, so leave that set unchecked at work or school.
Can I add my own questions?
Yes. Type a question on the wheel as one entry ending with a question mark. When the wheel lands on it, the popup shows it as written.
Can the wheel pick a person instead of a set?
Yes. Type names on the wheel, one per line. Each spin picks a person and gives them a question from the checked sets.
Is the random question generator free?
Yes. Every question set and wheel feature is free, with no account or app. Your checked sets are remembered in this browser.
