A classroom never gets a first-date question, and a team meeting never gets a playground one. Easy icebreaker questions, like a favorite snack, are shared by all 6 settings.
Run a round
How to run icebreakers with the wheel
The icebreaker wheel holds the names of the people in the room. Each spin picks the next speaker and hands them one of the icebreaker questions from your deck, so nobody has to volunteer to go first.
Add the group
Open Edit entries & settings and type everyone’s name over Speaker 1 to Speaker 6, one per line.
Choose the deck
Pick Work meeting, Classroom, Kids, Party, Remote team or First date, then Light, Deeper or Both.
Set the clock
Pick a speaking time from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, or Off. The default is 1 minute.
Spin and talk
The popup names the speaker and the question. Close it, and the countdown starts while they answer.
Press Remove in the popup after each answer, and the wheel only lands on people who haven't spoken. For one question the whole room answers, press Deal a question instead, and Next question swaps one that doesn't fit.
The full list
All 299 icebreaker questions
These are all 299 icebreaker questions the wheel can deal, in 8 groups from funny to first-date. Each one appears once, tagged light or deeper. Tap a question to load it next to the wheel, then spin to pick who answers it.

Icebreaker questions for remote teams 22
Built around what people have at home: the view from the window, the mug on the desk, the pet that crashes calls.
Icebreaker questions for kids and the classroom 73
Recess games, pet dragons and the first week of school. Short words and no wrong answers for young students.
Icebreaker questions for parties 34
Karaoke songs, potluck dishes and how you know the host. For guests meeting for the first time.
Icebreaker questions for a first date 22
Planner or go-with-the-flow, beach or mountains. Easy and clean, with no questions about past partners.
A tapped question waits on the card with a Start timer button. The next spin gives it to the speaker the wheel picks.
Round length
How long a round of icebreakers takes
A round of icebreaker questions takes about the number of people times the speaking time, plus a few seconds per spin. The table assumes everyone answers once and each spin takes 5 seconds.
| Group size | 30 seconds each | 1 minute each | 2 minutes each |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 people | 3 min | 5 min | 10 min |
| 10 people | 6 min | 11 min | 21 min |
| 15 people | 9 min | 16 min | 31 min |
| 20 people | 12 min | 22 min | 42 min |
| 30 people | 18 min | 33 min | 63 min |
A 10-person team at 1 minute each needs about 11 minutes. A class of 30 at 30 seconds each stays near 18 minutes, or split the room with the random team generator so small groups run rounds side by side. The countdown sits under the wheel with pause, reset and close buttons, and a chime plays at zero unless sound is muted.
Light or deeper
Light or deeper icebreaker questions?
Start with light icebreaker questions when people are new to each other, and save deeper ones for groups who already share a little history. Light questions need no thinking time, so 30 seconds to 1 minute is plenty.
Deeper questions ask about goals, lessons and the people who helped you. Give them 1 to 2 minutes, and let anyone pass. Both mixes the two depths in one deck, so the next card could be either.
A pattern that works for a new team: a light round on day one, then a deeper round a few weeks later. The bars show how each deck splits, counted from the bank itself.
Hosting
Hosting tips for each room
The host answers the first question, which shows how long an answer should be. After that, the wheel and the clock do the running.
Work meeting
Five minutes of icebreaker questions at the top of the agenda is enough. Light suits a new team, and Deeper suits one that already works well together.
Classroom
Stick to light icebreaker questions in the first week. A student who isn’t ready can pass and take a turn at the end of the round.
Kids
Set 30 or 45 seconds and let children make sounds or act out their answers. Funny questions land best.
Remote team
Share your screen with the wheel in full screen. Remote icebreaker questions use things people have at home, so nobody is left out.
Party
Spin once for each new guest as they arrive, and introductions happen without anyone giving a speech.
First date
Take turns answering the same question. Deeper questions work better after the first round of light ones.
Teachers who call on students all day can switch to the random name picker, which has a classroom mode with no repeats.
Your own
Write icebreaker questions that work
Good icebreaker questions are easy for anyone to answer, have no right answer, and don't reveal anything private. Type yours on the wheel as one entry that ends with a question mark.
A quick check before you add one
- Could the newest person answer it? “What was your first job?” works on day one. “What did you think of the reorg?” doesn't.
- Is there a right answer? Opinions and stories beat trivia, so nobody feels tested in front of the group.
- Does it stay off status? Skip pay, home size, family plans and health. Those make some people feel left out.
- Can it be answered in a minute? If not, save it for a deeper round with a longer speaking time.
- Will the wheel read it? An entry ending in “?” shows as written, and the speaking timer still runs. Names and questions can share one wheel.
Mix it up
For a warm-up vote instead of a story, the would you rather spinner splits a room into A and B. The question generator with 7 sets deals icebreakers alongside deep and fun questions.
FAQ
Icebreaker wheel FAQ
How many icebreaker questions are there?
299. They form 6 overlapping decks, one per setting, each with light and deeper questions. The Remote team deck is the biggest, at 157.
Are these icebreaker questions safe for work?
Yes. No question asks about pay, religion, politics, health, bodies or past partners.
How long should an icebreaker take?
About the group size times the speaking time. At 1 minute each, a team of 10 needs about 11 minutes, spins included.
Can everyone answer exactly once?
Yes. Press Remove in the popup after each speaker, and the wheel only lands on people who have not answered yet.
Does it work on a video call?
Yes. Share your screen, open full screen and choose the Remote team deck. The timer shows on the shared screen too.
What are fun icebreaker questions for adults?
Ones with a funny answer and no wrong one. “What would your warning label say?” and “Which movie villain would make a surprisingly good coworker?” both come from the funny group.
Can I add my own icebreaker questions?
Yes. Type each one on the wheel as a single entry ending with a question mark. The popup shows it as written, and the speaking timer still runs.
Will the same question come up twice?
Not until the deck is used up. A counter shows how many are left, and the last question never comes straight back after a reshuffle. A new setting or depth starts a fresh deck, and Reshuffle puts every question back. Picks use your browser’s secure random generator; here is how the draws are checked.
Is the icebreaker wheel free?
Yes. Every question, the timer and all wheel features are free, with no account or app. The wheel runs on the main spin the wheel engine, so weights, colors, share links and full screen on a projector work here too.
